The Japanese Friendship Garden are going to be pretty and pink because it celebrates hanami — the Japanese tradition where people relax and relish the country’s abundant cherry blossom trees — in the 13th yearly Cherry Blossom Festival Friday through Sunday in Balboa Park.

“In Japan, hanami is practiced as cherry blossoms represent the fragility of life along with the coming associated with the springtime period,” said Jon Osio, the Friendship Garden’s occasion and marketing coordinator. Continue reading →
